Tongee Medical Technology Co., Ltd. ("Tongee Medical") recently obtained a license from the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office for its proprietary "Gastric diverter and digestive tract support and release method". It is hitherto the only scientific research achievement in this field in China to have been granted patent by U.S. authority. The technology looks set to drive rapid growth in the field of metabolic diseases in China. It is no doubt a landmark achievement with respect to participation in international medical device standards by a Chinese company.
